I recently published my first Obsidian plugin to the community directory. Called Release Timeline Base View, it builds upon an older plugin that relied on Dataview. While Dataview has long been a fantastic tool for creating lists and views in Obsidian, I began transitioning away from it once Obsidian introduced its native format, Bases.

This new plugin is based on Release Timeline, which was originally inspired by a release timeline view on Wikipedia.

I really love using this view to organize my end of year media consumption by month, but it could easily be adapted for travel locations, projects, and more.

Obsidian is robust and full of plugins these days, but many of them try to do too much at once like acting as a calendar, to-do list, and pet food reminder all in one. I wanted this plugin to serve a single purpose: providing a clean, no frills view for Bases.

I might add more styling options in the future if there’s demand, but for now, it should work well with whatever theme you choose.

I did use AI to help build this, and I tested it quite a bit before sharing it with a larger audience. If you use Obsidian, please install it and let me know what you think! I already have another idea I might work on next.
