I am cold. I’ve discovered a new sub-hobby1, and that’s collecting digital scans of video game manuals and magazines.
They are often a source of official art and lore that’s gone by the wayside and are important when talking about video game history.
Anyhow, I am still cold, so this roundup is going to be short.
YouTube
A good video about how monetization works on platforms for content creators and artists. I’m still a believer in supporting the few creators you really like directly if you can.
If there’s one video you watch about NFTs & Cryptocurrency this is the one. It draws a connection to the 2008 housing crisis & MLMs. However, this video is as long as a motion picture (so watch it in chunks.) I think it’s important for people to educate themselves about this before NFTs keep making their way into to places further legitimatizing them such as Twitter. The video specifically encapsulates my thoughts around “play to earn” video games and how antithetical to the concept of gaming for fun that is. “Decentralization is a myth.”

Count me down for some ORB Crumpets.
The True Size Of … allows you to select a country or region and drag it around on a map so you can visualize how map projections skew things. Obviously a globe is the best representation of our earth, but this is the best way I’ve seen on a flat map to represent it.
That’s all for this week. I hope you’re staying warm or cool depending on your climate.
