You know that little random quote thing I have up under the logo. Well I’ve added like 5 new sayings to it. But I realize, I’m running out of ideas for it again. Thanks to several of you (Erica, Jacob, Molly, Miranda, Bradley) last time, I put up around 30. I say let’s do it again. Post comments with something funny. The only requirement is that it has to come after WyomingJarbo.com… because I’m lazy.

And I suppose the winner of this contest will get a five dollar gift certificate… somewhere. Start posting… please.

The XBox 360 Can Go

I’m tired of hearing about how the XBox 360 is “next generation”. The only reason it’s coined that is because the game graphics are better. Big whoop, you’re keeping up with PC game graphics. Microsoft, to make things more complicated is releasing it during Black Friday week, and in limited supply. That’s great… make it seem good by making high in demand. I haven’t seen any games that I would want to play for 360… there’s not even a Halo 3. There is Tony Hawk’s American Wasteland… wait… that was already released FOR EVERY OTHER system including the original XBox.

The Playstation 3 is due out early 2006… maybe. They might wait until later to rethink some strategy. Nintendo’s Revolution isn’t due out until next Summer. I’m waiting for the Revolution. First off, the system last released never loses. Plus, with the Revolution, you’ll be able to download any Nintendo game ever released for the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64. It’s backwards compatable with Gamecube games. Wireless controllers out of the box. Wireless connection out of the box. Cheaper than the next-gen systems (Under 200 dollars). Plus it will have games for all genres.

That’s all I have to say about that.

The Infendo Blog has 10 reasons why you should wait for the Revolution.

Save Your Letters

So, hopefully you’ll agree with me (and some other people) that spelling the word shop, as S-H-O-P-P-E is excessive. You don’t do it. So why use www before you go to a website? Can you explain why you do other than the fact that you always have. The truth is that www is outdated. It was necessary to use the prefix in the early days of the Internet, but now we move towards the future. In case you don’t know why it’s outdated, here’s an excerpt from no-www.org’s website.

By default, all popular Web browsers assume the HTTP protocol. In doing so, the software prepends the ‘http://’ onto the requested URL and automatically connect to the HTTP server on port 80. Why then do many servers require their websites to communicate through the www subdomain? Mail servers do not require you to send emails to recipient@mail.domain.com. Likewise, web servers should allow access to their pages though the main domain unless a particular subdomain is required.

Succinctly, use of the www subdomain is redundant and time consuming to communicate. The internet, media, and society are all better off without it.

So there. Society IS better without it. And I’d personally like it if you stopped using www to go to WyomingJarbo.com. It already has enough W’s.

no-www.org

(Oh yeah, a side note: There are the rare occasional websites that actually require the www prefix, due to the fact that they are idiots.)

I Obey, iPod

There’s a book called Cult Of The iPod which follows iPod users and Mac Users traits, and how Apple is changing culture. I basically just like the cover of the book, but we all know how that adage goes.

Time Chopper Update

I’ve just recieved word that due to the ultimate success of Time Chopper II: Rotor of Time that the producers of the movie have confirmed another sequel. No definite details yet, other than that Chopper Dave has been kidnapped, and that it’s up to Weather Guru Tom McMasterfuschia to save the days. More details to come, hopefully.
