Four Score and Seven Pongs Ago started as an annual* video game competition that I have with my friend Brian<\/a>. We play a mix of retro and modern score based games. Then it was a website that hosts a podcast that I started with Shawn Sines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

These days it’s now a community<\/a> that I’ve help foster and grow through a series of fundraising marathons for charities such as Feeding America. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Early Days<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

The first few logos were based around the games we were playing. Along with a trophy to emphasize the competition aspect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This served as the basis for all things Four Score & Seven Pongs until 2022. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Surprisingly the Nintendo Four Score existed before I came up with the name. Now I just pass it off as if that was my intent all along. Here I modified a Four Score in Photoshop. The font recreation was a bit tricky but I think it looked overall good in the end. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The goal with the newest logo was to incorporate modern design elements, bright colors, flat design, and less clutter. This meant changing the current color scheme and adding some more than red. The red tone was also changed to incorporate a softer color. Also, gradients are in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to keep some fun design elements in, so the DPAD represents 4 sides, and then there is the unconventional 7 button layout. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
